Some new looks are slowly coming to form as well as some old looks are making an appearances.
Hair
The hair trends for spring and summer are varied and you should adopt depending on the texture of your hair.
For long, wavy hair, the 70s style hippie look is back. Wavy hair should not be too curly or thick, and be worn over the shoulders, framing the face. Middle and side parts are encouraged, but no bangs. The popular colors for this look are icy blond, coppery red, and light brown. Light eyebrows are also in. Loose buns and ponytails are perfect when paired with the feminine trend of soft pastels and ruffles.
The pixie cut is back. Very short and very cropped hair in dark colors is in, and should be worn with headbands, bows, and other feminine accessories.
Slicked hair is also a great trend to pair with the tribal and warrior looks that are popular for spring. It can be slicked straight back, or to the side, creating an almost androgynous look.
Milkmaid braids made a splash in 2009 and now based on the Spring 2010 catwalks, braided hairstyle continue to be in for 2010. Braids are great with any hair color and the two distinct braided hair styles are the long side braid and the fish plait braids.
Makeup
Three popular makeup trends for spring and summer are light tans, shimmer, and coral. Fake tans are out. A more natural glow is wanted this year. Don’t go overboard at the tanner or with the tanning lotion. Instead, try the moisturizing lotions that have a hint of tanner in them. You will tan gradually and not get that strange orange look.
Shimmer is huge this year, and goes well with the feminine looks. Cheekbones and eyebrows are the best places to put a light dusting of shimmer powder. Don’t use too much bronzer. A light shimmer with a bit of bronze is all you need!
Coral is the big color. It isn’t too overwhelming for the pastel colors that are the trend for this spring. Pick coral lips or coral eyeshadow, but not both at the same time. For a coral lip, choose a light shimmery shade for your eyes. If you decide to go with coral eyeshadow, be sure to apply it to the lid and blend well. Feather lighter, shimmery shades outward so that you don’t look sick. Wear a touch of stain on the lips and gloss. The key is to look as if you have just licked your lips, not as if you’re wearing much makeup at all.
